Getting my Equipment and Supplies

I just got back from shopping. Got the blender, got all the fruit, kale, and other greens. Tomorrow morning I will toss out the bacon and dripping eggs and have a high energy Green Smoothie Gangster! Then climb onto the treadmill and let her rip for 1/2 an hour.

Here are some “before shots” of what Woody looks like at +250 pounds (taken this summer while in Vancouver). I could probably kill everyone in the room with my bare hands, but that’s just not me. I am the guy that raised bunny rabbits as a kid.

DAY 1: of Green Smoothie Gangster Project

I watched the videos on Petra’s web site. Very useful and informative. I also did some research on Kale. This is no joke – it really is a “super food”

Here is my first green smoothie (actually, it came out purple due to thehealthy portion of organic blueberries added!)

Day 2: Im starting to like Kale

On the green side, I did notice a very pleasant sensation from my first smoothie yesterday (ie. More calm, more smiles, and more bounce in my step!). I couldn’t help notice my (very unusual) willingness to walk up the
steps at the mall instead of taking the escalator. I know this doesn’t sound like much, but for an overweight smoker, it is Very Unusual! Baby steps right? (or should I say bunny steps). I feel like I am at the bottom of a huge mountain that I am about to climb. I am sure the green smoothie will be an important tool in helping me get there!

Thank you

Day 3 Mixing It Up!

Thanks for the inspiration Petra.

You are the picture of health!

Day 3 was “berry day” – raspberries, blackberries and strawberries tossed into the usual staple ingredients (banana/pineapple and greens). I tried adding cilantro to the kale / spinach mix, but didn’t care for it. Will probably skip the cilantro in future.

Have a good one!

Quick Update

This morning I slept in a little and didn’t have time to “gangsterize”. So at lunch, rather than going to the “horrid food court”, I drove home to make my beloved smoothie for lunch, leaving me plenty of energy for the treadmill at the end of the work day! This one actually came out green since I used banana and pineapple.

Bye the way, here is my new toy, which I (miraculously) managed to assemble myself!

End of Week 2 Weigh In

Well it is now the end of week 2 on the green smoothie / treadmill program and I am extremely pleased to report the following results:

I started the program at 252 ilbs.
That’s right folks, I have lost 6 pounds in two weeks.

This may not seem all that dramatic for a 250 pound grizzly bear, but it really is. I feel lighter and more limber with lots more energy and stamina.

I am gradually increasing the time and intensity (speed and elevation) of my treadmill walks and will soon be running on it, so this trend of gradual (and permanent) weight loss will continue. My goal is to be 235 by the end of the year (so I can blow it all on a giant turkey dinner!)

I might even have to buy a No No hair removal system to show off my abs!

More interim reports to follow.
